Robert Lee
Fowler
November 8, 1961 – January 7, 2022
Robert Lee Fowler set his soul at ease and left this life on January 7, 2022, at his home in Winton, NC. He was raised in Suffolk, VA to the late Joseph Lee and Shirley Ann Little Fowler.
At the age of 17, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served his country proudly for 17 years until November 1996. A proud member of the Marine Corps, he talked extensively of his service and was grateful for his many adventures and friends throughout that time. It is said, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" and that is how he continued to live his life after discharge. Through the same principles and traits, trying his best to never dishonor his Corps.
Bob leaves behind his beloved daughter AnnRea J. Fowler (a proud recent graduate of VT) of Suffolk.
He also leaves behind his sister, Penny R. Dent, and a nephew, Michael K. Gividen.
Bob was ailed by many illnesses that ultimately led to a final heart attack. However, his heart's failure in no way spoke of his ability to love. He loved his daughter dearly. He loved his friends until they were family. Although very loving, Bob was far from the perfect man, but Jesus still died for him and loved him. He would want to remind everyone of this gift.
In his words, "In the end, it's not the stuff you have, the money in the bank, or the circles of society you move in. What seems to matter most was how much and what kind of difference you make in the lives of others…"
A memorial will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Bob asks that you donate to the Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk ( CAPS ) or preferably that you purchase a meal or donate a warm blanket for one of the many homeless citizens that habitat our community.
