SUFFOLK - Robert Francis Flanagan, 79, died May 17, 2006. He was a native of New York City. He was the son of the late Francis A. and Naomi C. Flanagan.
His wife of 48 years, Jean Wilkins Flanagan, predeceased him.

Robert retired as a health physics technician from Dominion Power, Surry Nuclear Division.
He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church with membership in the Baraca Sunday School Class. He was a former radio announcer for WLPM in Suffolk and Smithfield's WKGM. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II and in the Naval Reserves.

Robert was survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Deborah Z. Flanagan of Gwynedd, PA; granddaughters, Kellie Lauren Flanagan and Maribeth Ann Flanagan; a special friend, Evelyn C. Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Joseph Tavolacci of Scottsdale, AZ; sister-in-law, Virginia Wilkins Aldridge of Snellville, GA and four nieces.

A graveside service will be held Monday, May 22, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Michael D. Halley will officiate. Friends may join the family following the graveside service at Suffolk Christian Church for further time of fellowship.
