Robert Albert Donner, 70, of Suffolk, passed away on January 5, 2010. A native of Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Albert Cornelius Donner and Jeanette Coulaid Donner. He was also predeceased by a son, Michael Albert Donner. A veteran of the U. S. Army he served his country 24 years before he retired as a Sergeant 1st Class, E-7. He was an Infantry Platoon Sergeant in the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for bravery. Robert was a former Mason in Massachusetts and a member of the American Legion Post 57.
He is survived by his wife, Yona Christine Donner; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey Jeanette Sykes (Timothy), all of Suffolk; a son and daughter-in-law, Warrant Officer Robert Michael Donner (Cindy) of Germany; six grandchildren, Jacob, Erica, Tiffany Amber, Rayman, Sariha and Mikael; and brother and sister-in-law, Ronald Joseph Donner (Sueanne) of Atlanta, GA.
A graveside service, with full Military Honors will be held Friday, January 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk for visitation.
