Robert DaWayne Cox, affectionately known as "Rob" and "Big Rob," passed away on July 1, 2026, in Sussex, Virginia, at the age of 40. Born on May 1, 1986, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Rob was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose generous spirit touched all who knew him.
Rob dedicated his career to the Virginia Department of Transportation, where he served as an Operations Specialist. His commitment to his work was only surpassed by his devotion to his family and friends.

Rob's greatest pride and joy were his children, and he was a devoted father who led with a servant's heart. Always the gracious host, he ensured that everyone around him felt comfortable and welcome.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Roger Jones, and his paternal grandmother, Virginia Cox. Rob is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Kristal Anne Cox; his mother and stepfather, Tina Marie Young and Leonard "Lynn" R. Young; his father, Craig Thornton Cox; his cherished children, Robert “Lil Rob” William Cox, Jr., Fischer "FJ" James Christian, and Gracelynn “Gracie” Anne Christian; his sister, Tabitha Cox; his brothers, Brett and Kyle Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, with Jonathan Baines officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Suffolk Humane Society. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
