Robert "Bob" Clair Mowery, 89, passed away January 31, 2023.  He was born in Greenville, PA the son of the late Edward Clair Mowery and Helen Marie Baldwin Mowery.  He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret "Peggy" Dowdell and brother, William Mowery.  Bob was a United States Navy veteran having served during Vietnam and retiring after 21 years as a Chief.  He went on to work and then retired again after 20 more years for Wilson Trucking in Norfolk, VA.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Suffolk, VA where he served as a deacon and attended the Alan Harris, Eagles Sunday School Class.  He was also a member of the American Legion.

Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma Jean Ellis Mowery; children, John Ellis Mowery, Lisa Dawn Fisher (Michael), and Barbara Lynn Laughead (Michael); grandchildren, Alyson B. Hardin, Jenna Mowery, Jessica Mowery, Casey Mowery, Jason Fisher, Kelly Van Veldhuizen (Eric), Kristopher Ratliff (Daina), and Kyle Ratliff (Erica); and 10 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Thurman Hayes, Jr. officiating.  Burial with military honors will be private at Colonial Grove Memorial Park.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service from 10 - 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 237 N.
