Robert Ralph Branton, Jr., 71, passed away August 31, 2022.  Robert was born in Nansemond Co., VA the son of the late Robert Ralph Branton, Sr. and Margaret Anne Holland Branton. Robert attended Elon and East Carolina University earning a double BS in Archeology and Anthropology.  He was a member of the North Carolina Historical Society and Whaleyville United Methodist Church.  Robert retired as a farmer and was President of Branton Farms, Inc. His happy place was Edenton, NC and he was the quintessential southern gentleman.

Robert is survived by his brothers and sisters, William C. Branton (Phil Barnes), Benjamin Holland Branton (Claire), Dennis Carrol Branton (Diana), Peggy A. Branton (Sydna Lindblad), Shirley Branton Lewis (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434 with Rev. Burt Pearce officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Suffolk Humane Society.
