Richard George Warder, Sr., 87, passed away August 30, 2021.  He was born in Rochester, NY the son of the late George T. and Marion G. Warder.  He was predeceased by his sister, Pat George; and brother, George E. Warder.  Richard retired as a Chief Petty Officer for the United States Navy where he served during numerous conflicts between 1954-1976.  He later went on to work and retired as a project manager for Norfolk Naval Shipyard.  He was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church.

Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Minnie Irene Bickford Warder; children, Wendy Sue Lipscomb (Gordon), Richard G. Warder, Jr. (Cathy), and Brenda Lee Layton (David); grandchildren, Timothy Cutrell (Alicia), Justin Lipscomb (Lizzie), Kayla Lipscomb, Cole Lipscomb, Drew Warder, and Gabi Warder; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Vona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service with military honors will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434 with Rev. D.V. Madison officiating.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be held at a later date at Albert G.
