Obituary

Richard "Dick" Neely Burket, 73, of Suffolk, VA passed away October 18, 2013. He was born in Altoona, PA to the late William E. and Carolyn Schildt Burket. He was a US Navy Veteran. Dick worked as a plasterer for Jimmy Sanderson. He was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church and the Beacons of Light Sunday school class, where he was appointed a lifetime deacon and participated in the Tentmakers mission trips. Dick also worked with Samaritan's Purse after the tornado in Suffolk. He was an avid Penn St. and Pittsburg Steelers fan.

Dick is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy Burket; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Karl Waddy, Tammy and Michael Pietroantonio, and Barbara Burket; son, Richard "Tim" Burket; grandchildren, Brian Casto, Nicole Casto, and Michael V. Pietroantonio; great granddaughter, Rylin Pietroantonio; sister, Susan Givens; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Jean Burket of Altoona, PA and David and Ruthie Burket.

A funeral service will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at Wilroy Baptist Church, 306 Williams Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434 with Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr. Suffolk, VA 23434. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to the Wilroy Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Dr. Virginia Beach, VA 23452, Earmarked: Suffolk Relay for Life.
