Richard Allen Holmes, 75 of Suffolk, VA passed away on January 10, 2012.
He was born in Savona, OH the son of the late Stanley Arthur Holmes, Sr. and Myrtle Hartrum Holmes. He was also predeceased by his wife, Marie Olivia Holmes; brothers, Carl, Stanley, Jr., Ralph and Phil. Richard was a U. S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean War. He later went on to become the owner of Custom Fabricators. He was a member of the Suffolk Rod and Muscle Car Club and an honorary member of the Cosmopolitan Club.


Richard is survived by his daughter, Kathy Doerner of Suffolk; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Allen Holmes, Jr. and Beverly Holmes and Jim and Marsha Holmes, all of Isle of Wight; sisters, Mary, Juanita, Ann and Connie; brothers, Harold, Tom, Ray, Russell, Jack, David, Willie, Bobby Lee and Nick.


Friends may join the family Thursday night from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA for visitation and other times at the residence. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held Friday, January 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A Celebration of Life service will be held following the graveside at 12:30 p.m. at Western Branch Community Church, 1935 Jolliff Road, Chesapeake, VA 23321 with Rev. Steve Hassell officiating.
