Richard Joel Forehand, "Big Daddy", 90, of Suffolk, VA passed away December 5, 2015. He was born in Gates County, NC to the late Elijah and Junia Forehand. Richard was an avid Washington Redskins and Atlanta Braves fan. He was the owner of Forehand's Mart for over 20 years. He was also the maintenance supervisor for the Whaleyville Corporation. Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran having served on the USS English during WWII. He was a member of Whaleyville United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendant, choir member for over 60 years, Chairman of the Trustees, and numerous other committees. Richard was a member of the Prime Time Singers, American Legion Post #57, and Whaleyville Historical Club, and was a former member of the Jolly Boys and Elks Lodge.

A devoted family man, Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Anne Ayers Forehand; daughters and sons-in-law, Judith Anne Forehand Delpiero (Victor), Lynn Forehand, and Kathy Nuckols Rose (Butch); grandchildren, Rick Parrish, Vicci Snelgrove, Jason Delpiero, Kristy Patton, Nikie Zuraiqi, Justin "Scooter" Cornett, Tim Delpiero, and Savannah Nuckols; and 10 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Whaleyville United Methodist Church, 6312 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23438. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr. Suffolk, VA 23434.
