Richard "Rick" Alan Molohon, 56, died peacefully in his home on April 2, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased in death by his parents, mother,Pauline Dixon Molohon and father, Harold Eugene Molohon, Sr.
He is survived by four siblings: Harold E. Molohon, Jr., Sharon L. Molohon, D. David Molohon and Shannon G. Molohon. He had no children, but loved and was very much loved by his nephews Justin and David and his nieces, Christi, Kelly and Marisa. He used to say he "loved his nieces to pieces."
Rich was an avid outdoorsman. He loved surfing, hunting, fishing and, in fact, made his living for some time, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, managing "Fish'n Stuff" which is an elite, professional, fishing center in Hatteras Village, NC. He subsequently moved back to Virginia, obtained his Captains License (unlimited tonnage) and Captained fishing vessels out of Ocean View for a number of years. He was also a skilled carpenter/construction superintendent and supervised numerous private and government construction projects in the area.
Rich was well known for his bright and incisive wit. No one escaped it, but everybody understood that if you "were subjected to it" it was as well meaning as it was funny. He will be sorely missed by those that knew and loved him, and for those that loved him know absolutely that we'll see him again...at the Southern Cross.
Special thanks are to be made to Rick's close friends, Bubba and his wife Cristy (and daughters) and Bud Faulkner and his wife, Arleen, for helping us through this difficult time, and the wonderful people at Obici Hospice.
