Rena Elizabeth Gayle Carr, 75, of Suffolk, VA passed away on May 27, 2010. A native of Smithfield, she was the daughter of the late John Russell Gayle, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Morris Gayle and also predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Lennie Jep Carr, Jr. Rena retired from Lipton Tea where she was an accounts payable clerk and a member of the Ambassador Club. She was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law: Lennie Jep Carr, III and Tracy P. Carr of Dinwiddie and Michael Russell Carr and Pam B. Carr of Suffolk; grandchildren: Elizabeth Carr Maitland and her husband Kyle, Brittany Nicole Carr, Justin Michael Carr and Russell Ashton Carr; one great grandchild, Chandler Ty Maitland; two brothers, John Russell Gayle, Jr. and Jack Morris Gayle; and Patsy Carroll Jenks, cousin and true friend. The family would like to express special thanks to Linda Parker and Linda Asbell for their loving care during the past year.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Oxford United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Johnson, Rev. Cliff Whitlock and Rev. Dick Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk for visitation on Monday, May 31, 2010 from 7 – 8 p.m. and other times at the residence.
