Raymond Henry Stokes, Jr., 85, passed away August 6, 2016. He was born in Old Norfolk County, VA the son of the late Raymond Henry Stokes, Sr. and Reta Todd Stokes. He was a United States Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War. He served in the Air Force Reserve for several years. Raymond later went on to work and retired as a punch press operator for J.G. Wilson Company. He was a member of Drake's Branch Baptist Church and the Virginia Korean United Methodist Church. He also taught Sunday School at Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 260 in Keysville, VA and the P.&W. Hunt Club.
Raymond is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Charlene S. and Robert S. Brickhouse; grandson, Robbie S. Y. Brickhouse; cousins, Bobby and Dickie Todd; and former wife, Charlotte Claiborne.
A funeral service will be held at Friday, August 12, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the Virginia Korean United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Lee and Pastor Bonnie Whitehurst officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Thursday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
