Randolph Hugh Lassiter, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 29, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Ernest and Ladonia Lassiter, Mr. Lassiter was born in Nansemond County, and the last remaining of his eleven siblings.
A veteran of the Korean War and a Master Shipbuilder, he retired from the Newport News Shipyard after 44 years of service. With his hobbies of woodworking, gardening, clockmaking, gunsmithing, and flying model aircraft, he met and enriched many lives.
A devoted father and loving husband, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Katherine, his children Randy and Elenore, nieces Mary Anne and Nancy, and his pet cat Miss Piggy, all of whom miss and love him, and another daughter Mary Katherine. There will be always a void in our hearts only he could fill as we have lost our hero and a truly decent and good man. Mere words cannot describe the bond now severed or the mark it leaves behind.
Services will be private. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
