Randall Wayne
Mason
February 23, 1949 – June 18, 2017
Randall W. "Randy" Mason, 68, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 18, 2017. He was the son of the late Clayton C. and Grace Wilson Mason.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Heather (Scott) Wiggins and John Mason; grandchildren Gavin, Mason, Dylan, Lilliana and Isabella; his brothers, Dennis (Janie) Mason and Nathan (Kathy) Mason; his fiancee' Lossie Nixon; his very special aunts Anna Roberson and Mabel Byrum and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Randy was born in Lexington, VA but spent the majority of his life in Suffolk. He was a graduate of Suffolk High School and a veteran of the US Army. He started his career in the Peanut Industry at Gold Kist Peanuts and then Birdsong Peanuts. Randy had a passion for life and the outdoors; he was a former member of Peanut City Bassmasters and Kilby Hunt Club. He was an avid gardener. He welcomed friends and family into his home with a big smile and a table full of food. You would never leave Randy's house hungry. He loved the Washington Redskins, a love he has passed down to his children. He was an amazing father and grandfather. His loss has left a void in our hearts that will never be filled. Randy's last years on this earth were not easy years but he faced them like a warrior. His faith was strong and he believed that God had a plan for him. We rejoice knowing that he is now with our Heavenly Father, no longer suffering, no longer fighting but whole again.
A celebration of Randy's life will be held at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434 on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Matt Winters officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation Tuesday, from 6-7:30 pm at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Heather and Scott Wiggins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Horton Wreath Society, 5310 Milners Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
