Obituary

Peggy Ann Ware Gnieski, 71, of Smithfield, VA passed away peacefully at Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Monroe, NC on May 27, 1942, Peggy was the daughter of the late Edgar Marlyn Ware and Mary Katherine (Austin) Ware.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph F. Gnieski, Jr. and son Daniel M. Gnieski. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son Leland "Lee" Gnieski (Tracy) of Walters; her daughter Shelly Lee Gnieski Jones of Greenville, NC; and brother Jim Ware (Terri) of Rescue. Peggy is also survived by six grandchildren: Joseph Collins, Christine and Daniel Gnieski, Caitlin and Kristen Finchum, and Loghan Jones.

Peggy was a resident of Smithfield for thirty-six years and was a member of Benn's United Methodist Church; the Adult Sunday School Class; the Pam Stagg Day Circle; and Eastern Star Order #400 (Irwin, PA). Peggy worked for 22 years at Bush Gardens, many of which were in Human Resources.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Benn's United Methodist Church, 14571 Benn's Church Blvd., Smithfield, VA, officiated by Rev. O. H. Burton, Jr. Burial will follow at St. Luke's Memorial Park. Friends may join the family on Saturday evening from 7 – 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA for visitation.
