Pauline West Modlin, 86, of Suffolk, VA passed away on October 6, 2010. A native of Isle of Wight County, VA, she was the daughter of the late, Olan Joseph West and Erma Holland West. She was also predeceased by her husband, Jesse L. Modlin; sister, Linda M. Lynch and brother, James O. West. Pauline was a very active member of Bethlehem Christian Church where she was past president of the Ladies Star Class; member of the Staley Circle; served on the Deacon Board and was instrumental in planning the building of Graham Hall. She also enjoyed her work as a volunteer in the gift shop of Obici Hospital and with Meals on Wheels. Pauline was the Assistant Manager at F. W. Woolworth Company for over 40 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy E. Modlin of Jackonville, FL; three grandchildren: John Michael Terry, Mark Christopher Terry and Kevin Lynn Terry; one great grandchild, Christian Blake Terry; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Betty West; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Bethlehem Christian Church on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends can join the family for visitation at the Tom West residence. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Bethlehem Christian Church Building Fund, 1549 Holland Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
