Paulette Elizabeth Lassiter Cherry, 66, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2014. She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Clinton and Martha Bell Lassiter on September 11, 1948. She is predeceased by her infant daughter, Delores Jean Cherry; sister, Edith Belle Mitchell; and brother, Herbert Clinton Lassiter.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Carlton Ray "Peanut" Cherry; their children, Deborah Cherry Davis and husband, Bryan of Chesapeake, Darrell Anthony "Tony" Cherry and wife, Kimberly of New Port Richey, FL, David Allen Cherry of Lynchburg, Dana Annette Cherry Bilby and husband, Sean of Suffolk, and Darick Andrew Cherry and wife JoAnn of Suffolk; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth, Michael, and Katelyn Davis, Auburn, Baylor, and Emory Cherry, Jackson and Aidan Cherry, Abigail St. Elizabeth and Phoebe Bilby, and Taylor and Justin Cherry; and a sister, Mary Lee Whitley of Chesapeake.

She loved her family and family vacations, especially to her summer home at Lake Gaston. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Suffolk, and of the Suffolk Moose Lodge. She loved dancing, laughing, and being with her many friends.

A funeral service in thanksgiving for her life and resurrection will be held Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434 with Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation at her home.
