Obituary

Paul Raymond Mayo, 83, passed away March 7, 2008. He was a native of Nelson County, Virginia, son of William Joseph and Mary Lowe Mayo. He was predeceased by four brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shirley Graves Mayo; one daughter, Denise M. Fulgham and husband, Tom of Colliersville, TN; one son, Darrell G. Mayo and wife Nancy of Windsor, VA; one sister, Margaret Cash of Afton, VA; and three grandchildren, Kelly and Steven Fulgham and Jennifer Mayo.

Mr. Mayo retired after 35 years of service with the Virginia Department of Corrections. He was an avid fisherman and bowler, loved to travel, loved country music and played several instruments. He was a member of Colosse Baptist Church, a past Deacon, Sunday School Director and Teacher. He was a member of Purdie Masonic Lodge No. 170, Past Master and District Deputy.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk with Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery, Windsor. Friends may join the family Monday night at the funeral home.
