Obituary

Patrick James Callahan, 65, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on June 27, 2013. A native of Norfolk, VA he was the son of the late Lincoln and Lillian F. Callahan. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was a combat veteran during the Vietnam Conflict, and was awarded a Purple Heart. Patrick retired as a Project Manager in a building material business; was a life member and past president of the Vietnam Veteran Chapter 969. He loved playing beach music as a disc jockey and enjoyed time on the beach with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carolyn Gurganus Callahan; son and daughter-in-law, Brian Patrick Callahan and wife Heather Miller Callahan; two grandchildren, Kaila and Liam; brothers and sisters-in-law: Daniel and Crystal, Rodney and Sally, Julius and Dottie and Michael and Donna Callahan; numerous nephews and nieces and one great nephew and three great nieces.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7 – 8 p.m. for visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, payable to: Virginia Veteran Services Foundation (VWWP), 900 East Main Street, Ground Floor, Richmond, VA 23219.
