Patricia Jane Boyd, 60, of Suffolk, VA passed away December 17, 2012 in Acworth, GA, while visiting family. She was born October 9, 1952, in Huntington, WV, to the late Don A. Rice, Sr., and the late Margie Louise Wrotten Rice Lykins. She was the loving and dedicated mother and best friend of her daughter, Andrea D. Smiddy. Pat served 30+ years as a registered nurse – in Saudi Arabia, Tucson, AZ, and in Hampton Roads, retiring from Langley Air Force Base. She served as a family advocacy nurse and loved spending time with and helping the elderly and children, particularly her grandnieces and nephews. Her life was spent touching others' hearts and making a difference in their lives. She supported her soulmate and love of her life during his military service years and in his retirement. She also enjoyed traveling, kayaking, sewing, stained glass, and crafting.

Pat is survived by her husband of 18 years, retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Franklin K. Boyd of Suffolk; daughter, Andrea; four sisters; three brothers; previous husband, Larry Napier; beloved golden retriever, Magic; and grand dog, Libby; and special friends and loved ones.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 28, 2012, at 6:30 p.m., at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434, with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. A time of visitation will follow the service. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, VA, at a later date.
