Obituary

Oscar Lee "Buddy" Byrum, 70, of Suffolk, VA passed away May 25, 2008. A native of Nansemond Co., VA he was the son of the late Oscar and Selma Archer Byrum. He was also predeceased by his wife, Vera Marie Ellis Byrum, a son Frankie Lee Byrum and two sisters Lois Hill and Dorothy "Dot" Holland. Buddy was a farmer and the founder of Oscar Byrum Plumbing with 43 years of service in Hampton Roads. He attended Southside Baptist Church, was a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge #141 and the Salvation Army.

Buddy is survived by his loving daughter, Glenda Byrum Gentry Grimstead of Suffolk, VA; nine grandchildren: Robbie, Richy, Michael, Kyla, Krissi, Melanie, Jason, Dustin, Wendy; a great-granddaughter, Ashlee Lynn; daughter-in-law, Gloria Q. Byrum; and a special friend Venetta Hamlin.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434 with Rev. Stewart McCarter and Rev. Tom Potter officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. A Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
