Orie Johnson Griffin, age 90, of Suffolk, VA died on May 15, 2007. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Ryland Claude Johnson and Mittie Powell Johnson. Orie was also predeceased by her husband, Thornton Hayes Griffin, Sr.; her son, Milton Johnson Griffin; her granddaughter, Sue Ann Griffin; 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

Orie retired from A & P Peanut Company. She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, the Gray Memorial Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her son, T. Hayes Griffin, Jr. and Joni of Windsor, VA; Jacqueline G. and Harvey Russell of Suffolk; Kenneth E. and Cheryl Griffin of Suffolk; 9 grandchildren, Michele McManus, Frances Kinsey, T. H. Griffin, III, C. J. Griffin, Jennifer Griffin, Kyle Griffin, Shannon Griffin, Tracy Griffin and Kelly Griffin; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Lisa Blackmonson officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday night at Parr Funeral Home from 7 - 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence of Jackie and Harvey Russell, 119 Benton Road, Suffolk.
