Nettie Ruth Moore Hagwood, 72, of Suffolk, VA passed away March 14, 2008. She was born in Selma, NC, the daughter of Irene Sullivan Moore and the late Percy Lee Moore. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Derle G. Hagwood, Sr. Nettie Ruth retired after 20 years as a nurse for the local ophthalmologist, Dr. Hong Woo. She later went on to serve many faithful and dedicated years as a funeral hostess for Hill Funeral Home and Parr Funeral Home. She was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church where she attended Sunday School, served as Treasurer, and was a member of the Administrative Board.

Nettie Ruth is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Derle Grey Hagwood, Jr. and Marcia Hagwood of Georgia, VT, Robert Bruce Hagwood and Gretchen Schaar-Hagwood of Virginia Beach, VA; mother, Irene S. Moore of Selma, NC; granddaughters, MacKenzie and Betsy Hagwood; grandsons, Bryant, Jarrett, and Jeremy Hagwood; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy Moore Price and Jackie Price of Raleigh, NC; and her devoted friends, Susie and Jim Pearce.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Edward C. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive Suffolk,Va.23434 and other times at her residence.
