Nellie H. Byrd, 95, widow of Leonard H. "Doc" Byrd, went to be with her loving
Father on May 20, 2011.
A native of Nansemond ,Co., Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Fenton H. & Clio Hedgebeth. She was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, former Sunday school teacher, member of the Ruth Bible Class, and the HAC.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Judy Beck of Suffolk, 2 grandchildren, Jimmy Cottle and wife Alice and Paula Smith and husband Kenny, 3 great grandchildren, Krystal, Brooke, and Kasey Smith, and sister-in-law Mary Hedgebeth, all of Suffolk. Mrs. Byrd was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Ramsey and a brother, Wesley Hedgebeth.

The funeral will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. by the Rev. Jim George and the Rev. Doug Gibson at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Western Branch Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday May 22, 2011 from 7-8 p.m. at the Parr funeral home, and other times at the residence.
The family would especially like to thank her caregivers Margie Copeland and Heartland Hospice; her faithful friend Beulah Davis and Dr. William Jackson for his compassion and loving care over the years.
