Nancy Warner Dashiell, 96, of Smithfield, VA passed away on February 6, 2008. A native of Isle of Wight County, VA she was the daughter of the late James Luther Warner and Mattie Edwards Warner. She was also predeceased by her husband, Thomas Lafayette Dashiell, Jr.; two sons, Thomas L. Dashiell, III, James Luther Warner Dashiell; two sisters, Mildred Warner Smiley and Jane Warner Lehr. Nancy was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was energetic and fun loving for all of her 96 years. She especially enjoyed birdwatching and yard work and took great pride in her flower beds. She was also a wonderful cook and carried lunches into the fields well into her 90's. She devoted her life to her family and Berry Hill Farm and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by one son, Jerry Edwards Dashiell (Becky) of Smithfield; eight grandchildren, Kathryn Day (Dave), Ellen Minga, Nancy Gale, Jerry Dashiell, Jr. (Debbie), Warner Dashiell, Jr. (Dusty), George Dashiell, Jamie Dashiell and Brian Bracey (Kathy) ; and five great grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsay Minga, Alex Day, Shelbie, Jerry III, and Fisher Dashiell.

The graveside service will be held on Saturday, at 1:00 p.m. at Ivy Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Will Montgomery and Rev. Robert F. Cofield officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation at Trinity Family Activity Center, 201 Cedar Street, Smithfield on Friday, from 6 - 7:30 p.m.
