Nancy Louise Walker Byrd passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the age of 83.  She was born in the small mill town of Fieldale, Virginia to Clayton and Mary Walker in 1935.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Fred Ellis Byrd and 2 sons, Frederick Ellis (Rickey) of New York City and Michael Clay (Michael) of West Hollywood, California.  She is also survived by her only sibling, Billy Walker of Toms River, New Jersey.

Nancy was a loving and devoted wife and mother who made her family her priority.  She took great pride in her appearance and always presented herself as a lady.  She loved to cook, cross stitch, sew and also enjoyed antique refinishing, decoupage and other creative crafts.

She was a life long member of Cypress Chapel Congregational Christian Church and the Robin Ferrell Circle.  Nancy worked in the Suffolk City School system for 27 years before retiring in 1998.  She loved helping children and took great pride in her work.

The family will be receiving guests at Parr Funeral Home in Suffolk on Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:00 pm.  A graveside service is planned for 2:00 pm on Wednesday January 16, 2019 at Holly Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Tim Rawls officiating.
