Obituary

Mitchell Pollard Hunter, 85, passed away November 26, 2012. He was born in Cofield, NC the son of the late Lillie Tomlin Hunter and Nelson Monroe Hunter. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Maxey Hunter; his son, Mitchell P. Hunter, Jr.; and his brother, Charles Hunter. He retired after 46 years as a postal carrier for the Windsor Post Office. Mitch was a member of Windsor Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Finance Committee chairman. He was a member of the Windsor Purdie Masonic Lodge #170 for 64 years. He served as Past Worshipful Master and Secretary. He was a member of the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department for 62 years, serving as the treasurer for 52 years. He was also active in the Windsor Ruritan Club and formerly served on the Board of Directors at Isle of Wight Academy.

Mitch is survived by his daughter, Carol Elizabeth Hunter Nease and husband, Jeff of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Amber Johnson and Brad Johnson; step grandchildren, Ryne, Emily, Mike, and Paige; step great grandchild, Emma; sister, Dorothy Britt and husband Warren of Midlothian, VA; and sister-in-law, Evalyn Hunter of Chester, VA. and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Bryan Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Wednesday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be held prior to the visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
