Michael Junius Slaughter, 52, passed away July 16, 2023.  He was born in Washington, DC the son of Junius Atkins Slaughter, Jr. and Delores Bryant Slaughter.  He was predeceased by his son, Dennis Stewart.  Michael retired as a Chief from the United States Navy having served during the Global War on Terrorism.  Following retirement, he went on to work for General Dynamics Information Technology.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Ruth Elliot Hill Slaughter; children, Jon Stewart (Emily), Michael Slaughter (Emma), Lynda Stewart, and Jenna Stewart; grandchildren, Rameik, Imanni, Asia, Jordan, Briton, Halley, Ava, Scot, and Elijah; sisters, Anita Slaughter, Deborah Crandell (Darnell), Valerie Johnson (Deondra), and Vera Slaughter; brother, Robert Slaughter (Momo); sisters-in-law June Hill Alford, Anne Simpson; brother-in-law David Hill (Joyce); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434 with Chaplain Robert Slaughter officiating.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Wednesday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward funeral expenses.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
