Michael "Mike" J. Powell, 62, passed away December 24, 2021.  He was born in Suffolk, VA the son of the late Doris Ward Daughtrey and Wilber Jackson Powell  He is predeceased by his sister, Martha J. Green; step-father, James R. "Buck" Daughtrey, Jr.; and brother, Roy Powell.  He was a 1977 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and was employed as a utility worker at Amerigas for over 18 years.  Mike was an avid sports player and fan and loved spending time with friends and family.

Mike is survived by his niece, Dawn Maus (Brian); nephew, Scott Cornette (Kristy); great nephew, David James Beamon and many many friends who he considered family.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434 with Rev. Tim Rawls officiating.  Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of Dawn Maus.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Horton Wreath Society.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
