Merle Cofield Groves, 87, passed away February 8, 2024.  She was born in Aulander, North Carolina the daughter of the late James A. Cofield and Mary R. Cofield.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, John E. Groves, Sr.; her son, Gene Groves; grandson, Tommy; and numerous sisters and brothers.

Merle is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Thomas "Pete" Woods; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Jeannie Groves, John E. Groves, Jr., and Judy Groves; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor John Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to  Noble Warriors, PO Box 1921 Midlothian VA 23113.
