Melissa Tittman Edwards, born on January 29, 1959, in Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, in Norfolk, VA, at the age of 67.
Melissa dedicated much of her professional life to caring for animals as a certified animal technician, a role in which she found great fulfillment and purpose. Later, she embraced her passion for education by becoming a school teacher, where she touched the lives of many young students with her kindness and dedication.
A woman of many talents, Melissa had a profound love for music. She found joy in ringing handbells and singing, whether as part of a choir or performing solos. Her melodious voice and musical contributions were cherished by all who knew her.
Melissa was an active member of Magnolia Methodist Church, where she was deeply involved in the church community. She was also a member of the Prime Time Singers. In her early years, she founded the Girl Scout Troop at Magnolia Methodist Church and founded a youth choir at Hope Lutheran Church, demonstrating her commitment to mentoring and supporting others.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, John Wallace Tittman and Mary Carolyn Bechtel Tittman; her daughter, Hope Joy Edwards; and her sister, Cynthia Tittman.
Melissa leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her devoted husband of almost 41 years, Robert "Bobby" Clay Edwards; her children, Sean Robert Edwards (Alicia) and Kelsey Mary Edwards; her adored grandchildren, Angel and Chloe; her brother, David Tittman; and special cousin, Allison Agra.
A celebration of Melissa's life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Methodist Church, with Pastor Brandon Nichols officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
Melissa's gentle spirit and unwavering love will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
