Mary Ann Walker Fisher, 98 of Windsor, VA passed away on July 30, 2018. She was born March 9, 1920 in Jane Lew, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert Leland and Nora Mae Wimer Walker. She was married September 8, 1940 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to her beloved husband of 48 ½ years, Rev. Harold B. Fisher. Harold went to his heavenly home May 4, 1989. Also preceding her in death was one sister, Christine Jeffries and husband Fred Jeffries of Jane Lew, WV; brothers, James Woodrow Walker and wife, Lavaughn Walker of Daytona Beach, FL and Burhl Leland Walker of Akron, OH; and one dear aunt, Miss Ruth Wimer of Weston, WV.
Mary Ann was a 1938 graduate of Jane Lew High School. She attended the Conservatory of Music for one year in Miami, FL. She was an organist, pianist, choir director and Sunday School teacher for the churches her husband served as pastor. The Fishers served churches in WV, FL, NC and VA and they were both members of First Baptist Church in Suffolk. Mrs. Fisher also worked as a night clerk for Econo Lodge and the Suffolk Elon Home for Children as a substitute chaperone. After the death of her husband she served as an organist at Wilroy and Windsor Baptist churches.
She is survived by three nephews and their wives: Fred Jeffries, Jr. and Mollie of Hunt, TX; James Walker and Ruth of Henry, VA; Robert Walker and Jennifer of Naples, FL; one great nephew, Adam Walker and one great niece Kelly Walker, also from Naples, FL; many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was thankful that God had blessed her with good health and also two dear friends: JoAnne Joyner and Melanie Beale. She often said how nice the friendships and love of their families, neighbors and numerous other friends gave her great comfort and love since the passing away of her beloved husband Harold.
Services will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Michael Turner officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum. Viewing will be held one hour before the service. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com
