Marvin "Sonny" David Spivey, 86, passed away July 3, 2025.  He was born in Portsmouth, VA the son of the late Eugene Fletcher Spivey and Mae Hall Spivey.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Myrtle Fodrie, Delmar Spivey, and Willard Spivey.  Sonny loved to farm and restore antique tractors.  He retired in 1999 but continued to operate the sand pit.  Some of his favorite evenings were spent on the porch watching summer storms come in to water the crops.  The farm was a place that he enjoyed watching the birds and eating fish out of his pond.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Holt Spivey; daughters and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert Johnson, Sharon and Clay Howell; grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica and Tony Slaba, Michael and Stephanie Snead, and Lauren Howell; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Caroline, Hayslee, Elizabeth, and Alaina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Howard Small officiating.  Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Tuesday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
