Martha Valencia Gwaltney, 77, of Suffolk, VA passed away January 16, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Eleanor B. and Paul S. Valencia. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, George "Spunk" L. Gwaltney, III; and her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Harry Pafel. She retired from the Department of Labor. Martha was a member of Oakland Christian Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star - Sinai Chapter #18, Junto Women's Club, the Red Hatters, and loved playing Bridge, Bunko, and Bingo.

Martha is survived by her daughter and former son-in-law, Deborah G. and Wayne C. Renfrow of Virginia Beach, VA; sons and daughter-in-law, George Paul Gwaltney and special friend, Kelly McCann and her daughter, Laura McCann of Windsor, VA; Kent Lee and Carolyn H. Gwaltney of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Robert Warren and wife, April, Leslie Hamrick and husband, Bo, Lindsay Steele and husband, Stephen; step grandsons, Brenan Oliver and Wayne C. Renfrow, II; great grandchildren, Emma Caroline Hamrick, Hannah Leigh Hamrick, Adair Juliann Warren, and Andrew Kent Steele; niece, Tracy Lynn Pafel; nephew, Alex Pafel both of Baltimore, MD.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 12 noon at Newman Memorial Cemetery behind Oakland Christian Church. Friends may join the family Wednesday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA. Eastern Star Rites will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
