Capt. Mark C. Ewing (Ret.), 66, of Suffolk, Virginia, surrounded by his family, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 29, 2023. He was born on July 31, 1956, to the late Joe D. Ewing and Lucille F. Ewing. A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Mark became a paramedic for the city of Norfolk in 1975. After merging with the Norfolk Fire Department in 1991, he went on to serve the city for 33 years and retired as a Captain from Norfolk Fire and Rescue in 2008. He continued his service to others as a dispatcher for Isle of Wight County until 2013. Mark was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to live music. He loved spending time with his family and was a devoted husband and father.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Dianne B. Ewing; daughters, Christy Cook and husband, Robert Cook of Baltimore, MD, and Jennifer Ewing of Virginia Beach, VA; son, Joseph Ewing and fiancée, Caitlynn Melanson of Suffolk, VA; and cousins, Lisa Fletcher (Robert), Joyce Pecina, Linda Nonken, and their families.

The family will receive friends at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory for a time of visitation on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 5 - 7 pm. A celebration of life will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 11 am with Pastor Ben Scofield officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
