Obituary

Marjorie Mathews Creekmore, 98, passed away January 6, 2017. She was born in Suffolk, VA to the late William C. "Capt. Will" Mathews and Lillie Crumpler Mathews. Marjorie was also predeceased by her brothers, Roland, Horace, Herbert, Carlisle and Francis. She was a life long member of Oakland Christian Church, Loyal Fellowship Class, church choir and Suffolk Community Choir. Marjorie touched many lives working at J.C. Penney, Brewer's Jewelry, and Lesser's House of Fashion until retiring.

Marjorie is survived by her son, William D. "Willy" Creekmore Sr. and wife, Jeannette; daughter, Susan J. Creekmore and granddog Cujo; grandchildren, Tammy Patton and husband, Danny, and William D. "Bill" Creekmore Jr. and wife, Bernice; great grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, Brittany, Jessica and Molly; and great, great grandchild, Sophia.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakland Christian United Church of Christ with Rev. Wayne Gardner officiating. Private burial will follow in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oakland Christian United Church of Christ or Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Condolences may be registered at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
