Marilynn Ellen Cofer Edwards, 93 of Smithfield passed away on Friday August 26, 2016. A lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, she was the wife of the late Charles William Edwards Sr. Also predeceased by her parents Willie M. Cofer and Myra Haverty.

She is survived by two daughters Mary Ellen Blount and Nancy Casper (Thomas), her son Charles W. Edwards, Jr. and two granddaughters Christie Casper and Jessica Casper. Also predeceased by a daughter Linda Cofer Edwards, sister Elizabeth Burgess and her brother Frank M. Cofer.

A lifelong member, she was the oldest member of Bethany United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 31 years.

A funeral service will be held Monday August 29 at 2 p.m. in Bethany United Methodist Church, with the Rev's Michael Frank and Tommy Reynolds. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church.
