Marianne H. Engels, 89, passed away on October 15, 2014 at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia. She was born on December 4, 1924, raised and educated in Rome, Georgia. She was the daughter of Abner Camp and Jessica Glover Hogg. She and her husband were residents of Norfolk, Virginia for 54 years and she then moved to the Lake Prince Woods Retirement Center in Suffolk, Virginia in 2004.

She was predeceased by her husband Darial F. Engels in 2002 and also by her brother Glover Hogg and sister Sarah Allison Hogg both of Rome, Georgia.

She was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church in Norfolk for 26 years and then joined Oakland Christian Church in Chuckatuck, Virginia in 2008.

She is survived by three children, Darial G. Engels of Charlottesville, Virginia, Mark A. Engels and his wife Jo of Richmond, Virginia and daughter Susan E. Vaughn and husband Lindsey and two grandsons Tyler Vaughn of Los Angeles, California and Riley Vaughn of Richmond, Virginia. She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth H. Chisholm and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk with Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, Virginia, 23434 in charge.
