Mamie Odell Jernigan Arrowood, 68, passed away May 5, 2012. She was born in Nansemond County, VA. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Joe Don Arrowood, Sr. Mamie was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was the President of Hall Place Community, volunteered at the Suffolk Peanut Fest, and was very active in the Girl Scouts.

Mamie is survived by her mother, Olif Odell Harrell; sons, Joe Don Arrowood, Jr. and wife, Kathy of Suffolk, David Lee Arrowood and wife, Rhonda of Melfa, and William Rodney Arrowood of Sedley; grandchildren, Kristen, Dallas, Shane, Ashley, Justin, Addison, Riley, John Dennis, and Shannon, great grandchildren, Hunter, Zaine, Jace, Jordyn, Carson, and Evan; brothers, William "Monk" Henry Jernigan, Roy Rogers Jernigan, and Robert Gerarld Jernigan; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Stewart McCarter officiating. Burial will follow at Nansemond - Suffolk Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad at P.O.
