Maisewell Virginia Brinkley, 90, of Suffolk, VA passed away April 26, 2009. She was born in Chowan Co, NC the daughter of the late Mabel Jethro Jordan and Herbert Isaac Jordan. She was predeceased by two husbands, Elbert V. Layton and Paul J. Brinkley; two sisters, Eunice J. Hobbs and Marjorie J. Roberts. Maisewell retired from Planters Peanut Company. She was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church.

Maisewell is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mable L. and Henry Scott; sons and daughter-in-law, Wendell and Carolyn Layton, Victor J. Layton all of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Jeffrey Layton, David Layton (Brenda), Paula S. Marx (J.J.), and Paula Brinkley; great grandchildren, Justin, Cameron, John, James, and Tim; numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Rev. Robert Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family Tuesday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of Mable and Henry Scott.
