Mable Layton Scott, 78, passed away December 9, 2017. She was born to the late Maisewell V. Brinkley and Elbert V. Layton. She is also predeceased by her husband, Henry O. Scott Jr., brother, E. Wendell Layton and stepfather, Paul J. Brinkley. She served the city of Suffolk as a deputy treasurer for over 21 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Mable is survived by her daughter and husband, Paula Scott Marx (John); grandsons, John J. Marx Jr. (Logan) and James S. Marx; great granddaughter, Savannah G. Marx; brother, Victor Layton and several nephews, nieces and close cousins.

Mable's funeral service will be 11:30am, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Matt Winters officiating. Burial will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8pm, Monday in Parr's. In lieu of flowers, donate to Alzheimer's Association or Southside Baptist Church.
