Obituary

Lucille Ogburn, 75, completed her life journey and returned home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2015.

A native of Emporia, Lucille was a lifelong resident of Suffolk, where she retired from Suffolk Public Schools as a dedicated Bus Driver of 47 years. She enjoyed keeping her hands busy through knitting, crocheting, and sewing; however her favorite pastimes were gardening, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed the nature of her lakefront home and adored all of God's creatures from a sly fox, a quarreling squirrel, to her beloved cat, Toby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ogburn; and her parents, Albert and Louise Delbridge.

Survivors include her son and daughter; Tony Ogburn and his wife, Fonda, of Emporia, and Penny Raiford and her husband, Larry, of Smithfield; two grandchildren, Lindsey Warnick and husband, Tim, of Newport News, and Tori Raiford, of Wise; her three sisters Frances Taylor and Mary Taylor of Emporia, Julie Finch, and husband, Taylor, of Bedford; a number of nieces and nephews; and beloved neighbor, caregiver, admired as a daughter, Darlene Stacy, of Suffolk.

Lucille was a devout Baptist and member of First Baptist Church of Suffolk; she served as a vessel to convey Gods message to all family and friends. She took immense pleasure in reading her bible and relished in viewing weekly sermons. Her soul and endearing love for Christ is now in the figure of an angel serving as a guardian for those who may stumble and fall.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Delorestne Ward officiating. The family will receive friends directly following the service at the Ogburn residence. Condolences may be registered at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
