Obituary

Lois Ann Turner Owens, 58, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 10, 2007. A native of Suffolk, VA, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Harvey Turner and Evelyn Lois Faison Turner Benton and was also predeceased by a sister, Betty Jean Moorefield. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, the Hope Sunday School Class where she served as Secretary-Treasurer, member of the Winnie Rountree Circle of WMU where she served as Co-Chairman, and a member of the Hospitality Committee. Lois devoted many volunteer hours to her work with the Suffolk Meals on Wheels and was a World Vision Sponsor to a girl in Indonesia.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Carlton "Corkey" Wayne Owens, Sr.; a daughter, Crystal Frankart and her husband Paul of Midlothian, VA; a son, Carlton Wayne Owens, Jr. and his wife Jeni of Franklin, VA; grandchildren, Nicole and Erica Owens, Trey Frankart and a step granddaughter, Brienne Frankart; sisters, Kathy I. Turner of Suffolk, Brenda Faye and Bill Kizer of Suffolk, Sandra B. and Paul Heeren of Sedley, VA.; brothers, Melvin H. and Linda Turner of Fairhope, AL, and Milton D. and Amy Benton of Suffolk.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim George and Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home for a time of visitation.
