Obituary

On May 1, 2024 Lois Elizabeth Stone Larson, 84, with family by her side, entered into her eternal home free from pain. Lois was born in Rustburg VA on October 13, 1939 to the late John Hamilton Stone and Bertha Mayberry Stone.

Lois was raised on a rural farm in Rustburg. She participated in 4H and was a graduate of Rustburg High School. Lois retired as a bookkeeper for several businesses over the years. She enjoyed cooking, camping, and playing the piano. Lois was a proud and dedicated Navy wife, even serving as ombudsman for several of Kurt's squadrons throughout his Naval career. Like her parents, Lois was a member of the New Hope Methodist church in Rustburg. She also loved flowers, birds, and all animals, but mostly the many dogs she had over her lifetime. Never one to hold her opinion, often those "words of love" were the little push needed to get one moving in the right direction. She will be heartbreakingly missed but lovingly remembered always.

Lois is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kurt Douglas Larson, Sr.; daughter, Wanda G. Larson; sons David H. Larson (Krysta) and K. Douglas Larson Jr. (Sue); grandchildren, Brittany Larson, Garrett Larson (Haley), and Owen Larson; great grandchild, Oakley Larson; and sister, Carolyn S. Adams (Ray).

A graveside service will be held Monday, May 13, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. "Come as you are" casual and comfortable. In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made to the Suffolk Humane Society, your local animal shelter, or New Hope United Methodist Church in Rustburg, VA.
