Linda Elizabeth Turner Saunders, 71, went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a long battle with dementia/Parkinson's on August 21, 2014. She was born in Nansemond County, VA, the daughter of the late Willie Lee and Lucille Duke Turner. She answered the call of God by owning and operating The Christian Bookstore in Suffolk. Linda was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a former member of the Junior Women's Club, Ladies Auxiliary of the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, and former Senior Girl Scout leader.

Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert Gary Saunders, Sr.; daughter, Angela Saunders Smith and husband Daryl of Virginia Beach; and son, Robert "Rob" Gary Saunders, Jr. of Denver, CO; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main Street, Suffolk, VA with Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr. and Rev. Lindsay Poteat officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Spring Christian Church. Visitation will be Monday night from 7-8 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434 and other times at the residence.
