Farrenkopf Tomlin
September 23, 1941 – April 8, 2025
Linda Lee Farrenkopf Tomlin, 83, went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 8, 2025. She was born in Suffolk, Virginia, the daughter of the late Willard Albert Farrenkopf and Lucy Viola Askew Farrenkopf and was also lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Jimmie and John Hearn. She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, James Hinton "Jimmy" Tomlin. Linda is survived by her two children Tina Tomlin "Sug" Smith (Rusty) and James Hinton Tomlin II (Lisa).
She is also survived by her grandchildren Tracy Gardner (Brandon), Nicholas R. Smith (Valeria), Grace S. Capobianco (Jack), Alura R. Tomlin, Connor H. Tomlin, Laura S. Bradshaw (Harper), and Sarah S. McMahan (Cody). Great-Grandchildren Liam Brandon Gardner, Deacon James Gardner, Connor Bradshaw, Taylor Bradshaw, Gray McMahan, Jane Russell McMahan, and Everett McMahan.
She is also predeceased by her sister Mary "Jellybean" Luter and sister-in-law Toni Farrenkopf. She is survived by her brother Albert W. Farrenkopf II, sister Gloria F. Salmon (Pete), sister in law Betty T. Cherry (Bill), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Linda was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and Meemoo. Her greatest joy was her husband and family. She and Jimmy loved dancing. Linda enjoyed a special relationship with her mother-in-law Marion A. Tomlin "Nanny".
Linda worked at Obici Hospital, Johnson's Flowers, and WFOG Radio Station. She also spent time as a homemaker, avid quilter, crafter, and basket maker, realizing her dream of opening a craft store, "The Country Basket" in 1984.
Linda attended Holland Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, was co-leader of Acteens, and a member of WMU. She was also a member of the Windmill Homemakers Club and was recognized for Outstanding Volunteer Support of the Virginia Co-Op Extension Program by Virginia Tech.
Now, Linda rejoices in Heaven with Our Father.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11am at Holland Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Johnson and Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Burial will follow at Holland Cemetery. A time of visitation will follow the burial back at the church.
