Lillian Gibson Godwin, 84, of Suffolk, VA, passed away September 5, 2009. She was born in Doniphan, Missouri. The widow of John Dougal Godwin, Sr., she was the daughter of the late Joshua and Fronia Payne Gibson. Lillian retired as a sales person from Leggett Department store.

Lillian is survived by her daughters, Joy G. Simon and husband Arthur of Virginia Beach, VA; Linda G. Taylor of Charlotte, NC; Sandra Godwin of Virginia Beach, VA; son, John D. Godwin , Jr. of Suffolk, VA; grandchild Allison Simon of Virginia Beach, VA and brother, W. Wayne Gibson of Granite City, Illinois .

A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, September 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Charles W. Thompson officiating. Friends may join the family Thursday night from 7 - 8 p.m. at the Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive Suffolk, VA.
