Obituary

Lewis "Red" Jernigan, 93, of Suffolk died Saturday, December 18, 2021 at home.  Red worked with the Suffolk Fire Department for 12 years, and later opened Jernigan's Body Shop until retiring in 2016.  He was a lifetime member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge and a member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Frances Jernigan; daughter, Linda Ramsey and husband, Joe of Florida; daughter, Nancy Larson of Florida; son, Michael Jernigan and wife, Kathy of Florida; granddaughters, Nancy Kustreba, Laura Matheson all of Florida; three great grandchildren, Kristin Carr, Aubree Matheson, Owen Matheson of Florida; and one great great grandson, Wyatt Robinson.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Thurman Hayes, Jr. officiating.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Tuesday night from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.  Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Lottie Moon Fund at 237 N.
