Leslie Hardy Matthews, Sr., 77, of Suffolk, VA passed away February 11, 2017.  He was born in Greenville County, VA to the late Bythel L. and Carrie D. Matthews. He was also predeceased by his brother, Fred Matthews and sister and brother-in-law, Shirley M. and Ed Parker. Leslie was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Cape Hatteras Baptist Church and an honorary lifetime member of the Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA). Leslie was an avid duckpin bowler.

Leslie is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carolyn M. Matthews; daughter, Tiffany C. Turner; sons and daughter-in-law, Leslie H. Matthews, Jr. and wife, Lara, and Mickey T. Matthews; grandchildren, Destiny C. Turner, April M. Turner, Shawn Joseph Merriman, and Sara A. Matthews; great grandchildren, Brendyn Keith Douglas and Serenity C. Turner; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Art Williamson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph B. and Mary Matthews and James A. and Roni Matthews; longtime friend, Glenda Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.  The family would like to thank the nurses of Sentara Obici Hospital 2nd floor step down for their love and care of Leslie.
